LIBRARY NEWS
Artist In Residence
Throughout Term 2, IAS students and staff have had the privilege of having a regular artist in residence at our school. Students have enjoyed chatting with Aunty Sherrie and asking her about her work.
Aunty Sherrie, a Mulunjahli Artist, has been commissioned to paint our Ipswich Indigenous Peoples totems for our school.
The totem symbols for the three Ipswich Indigenous Peoples are:
Jagera – Brown Snake
Yuggera – Sand Goanna
Ugarapul – Green Frog
This totem art will be displayed beside our Yarning Circle as part of our framework for Creating Culturally Responsive Schools.
We have enjoyed having Aunty Sherrie at our school creating an environment of cultural understanding to establish and build relationships with our indigenous community.
Teacher’s Choice
The students have enjoyed borrowing books from the Teacher’s Choice section in the library this term. They have the opportunity to discover books that staff enjoy and can choose to read one of the recommendations. We would like to thank Mrs. Findlay for sharing her favourite stories with us for Term 2.
